Melbounre City

I was studying in Melbourne in 2009 to 2012. I love this city so much. There were too many things to discovery in my first day. So, I will write this article about history of Melbourne city. let enjoy it :).

Melbourne airport - 1970
First of all, Melbourne airport colloquially known as Tullamarine Airport. It was opened in 1970. I still remember the first time I came there. I just say "WOW, what biggest". I was shock and just watching around. Suddenly, the police looked at me and say : "hey mate, keep the line ". Melbourne airport. Before the opening of Melbourne airport, Melbourne's main airport was Essendon Airport. In mid-1950s, over 10,000 passengers were using Essendon Airport. So, it was overload. In 1959 the Government of Australian accquired 5,300 ha of grassland in then rural Tullamarine. In May 1959, Prime Minister Robert Menzies announcing that a new airport would be build at Tullamarine. On 1 July 1970, Melbounre Airport was opened to international operations by Prime Minister John Gorton, In 1971, the first arrival of a Boeing 747 occurring. In the first of operation, Melbourne handled six international airlines and more than 150,000 international passengers. Finally, Melbourne airport terminals have 56 gates, 40 domestic and 16 international.

From Airport, I was picked up by my uncle. He drive into Flinders street station which the most beautiful in Melbourne City.  It was planing to build in 1899 with 17 entries received.Until 1901, work began with style French renaissance and ended 1910. There are 14 lines which difference way from north to south, with Platform No.1 being the farthest north. I just say that "it is really amazing how can human could build that"

After that, I visit Melbourne Central through the train from Flinders street station. It is a large shopping Centre,  railway station also. Melbourne Central shopping Centre opened 1991 but it was not profitable for Kamagai Gumi who owner this place. So, he sold 97 percent to Australian property manager GPT group. GPT was redevelopment with 195 million by architects Ashton Raggat Mc Dougall, open the complex to more natural light right now. In 2010, GPT plan redevelopment, the north-east corner at Swaton Street is again being altered, new food precinct will be opened. Another is railway station which is an underground on the metro network in Melbourne. It is one of five station on the City Loop. Be careful, because it is very difficult if you are attention like me come there the first time. In 2013 and 2014, it was the world's third busiest crowded with over 15,000 passengers.

Ok, go around and starting hungry. Should we go any where ? yeahhhh, China Town. There are thousand dishes waiting for visitor. Actually, there are not only food from china, it has many food difference like VietNam, Idian... China town was from the arrival of Chinese immigrants during the Victorian gold. Moreover, Melbourne's China town has a long and illustrious history. In late 1854, the first Chinese was build in Little Bourke Street and Celestial Avenue. In addition, China Town has event which is Asian food. It held in Spring and celebrates with food, stalls.

Ok, if you want to heard some sound from VietNam. let's go to Footscray which is place high population of Vietnamese live there. There are many food by Vietnmese like Pho, bread, beef noodle. Moreover, it is over 130 restaurants including : VietNam, Indian, Chinese, Australia, Afica.... Footscray. Footscay is of part of Maribynong, it was built largely on the traditional lands of the Kulin nation. the village reserve surveyed in 1848 at the junction of the Salt Water and Yarry River was named of the Kentish village of Foots Cray. Footscray's first industries were boiling-down and stone quarries. However, the god rushes and the railway to Williamstown ( beautiful beach) stimulated development. Nowadays, Post-industrial Footscary has become increasingly appealing to young professional attracted by affordable real estate, closeness to Melbourne, strong public transport and impressive local amenties.

Next, in the winter, I stayed away city.  I have been going Mansfield which place small town in the foothills in the Australian state of Victoria. The first time Mansfield known as Mount Battery. This place is famous as part of the Ned Kelly Trail. Mansfield is the burial ground for police officers slain by Ned Kelly and his gang at Stringybark Creek. Moreover, the road from Melbourne to Mansfield you will see the bushfires in 2009. It was killing destroy everything.

There are a few places famous that I have been visited and written history about that. However, There are a hundred place that the visited Melbourne City.
